Culinary Workshop with Executive Chef Antonio Saez: “Cooking the Catch of the Day”

Hotel Arts Barcelona offers guests exclusive access to Barcelona’s historic fish auction.

The iconic luxury hotel launches a new limited-access day excursion offering global travelers a sense of destination when visiting Barcelona.

Starting this Spring, guests and visitors at Hotel Arts Barcelona will be invited to take part in unique, authentic experiences creating lifetime memories when visiting Barcelona.

On a series of dates throughout 2015, the luxury Barcelona hotel will offer guests the opportunity to discover Barcelona’s iconic fish market. Located in the city’s main port, wholesalers gather at La Lonja, the famous market, to bid for the fresh catch of the day. Although usually inaccessible to the general public, Hotel Arts Barcelona will offer guests the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of the fish market and attend the daily professional auction accompanied by Executive Chef, Antonio Saez.

The group will witness the fishermen hard at work as they arrive from sea in the late afternoon to deliver the catch before wholesalers auction the lots. The massive hauls include everything from scampi to prawns and monkfish, as well as local species including sea bass, grouper, sole and scorpion fish. In this unique local ambience, guests will be able to choose their favourite fish to be cooked by chef Antonio Saez that evening.

After leaving the animated ambiance of the auction, the group will head back to the hotel’s seafront Arola restaurant where they will be invited to attend a personalised cocktail masterclass hosted by mixologist Diego Baud, while chef Saez prepares a delicious, unique tasting menu in the adjacent kitchen.

The evening will resume with a feast of fresh seafood and local products featuring the catch of the day, inventively prepared by chef Saez and served at the chef’s table. Dinner will be paired with cocktail creations by Diego Baud. A unique, exclusive experience to remember for a lifetime at Hotel Arts Barcelona.

HOW: The Barcelona fish auction experience costs €150 per person and includes a welcome group drink, private return transport to Barcelona Port, visit to the fish auction, cocktail masterclass at Hotel Arts Barcelona and auction fish dinner by Executive Chef Antonio Saez paired with crafted cocktails by Diego Baud. Room rates start from €265 per room per night, on a bed&breakfast basis.
