Roka Barcelona: contemporary Japanese cuisine

After the success of Roka Mallorca at Cap Vermell Grand Hotel, between the months of May and September we can enjoy one of the most exclusive Japanese restaurants in Barcelona: the famous Roka restaurant in Barcelona, which already has establishments in cities such as London (Shochu Lounge, Charlotte Street, Canary Wharf, Mayfair and Aldwych,), Istanbul or Dubai and is considered one of the best Japanese restaurants in the world.

With an ephemeral concept that will last 5 months, the Marina Coastal Club restaurant of Hotel Arts integrates the Japanese cuisine of robatayaki outdoors. Located outdoors next to the infinity pool and with privileged views of the famous sculpture of the fish, by Frank Gehry.

“We are extremely excited about Roka’s arrival at Hotel Arts and the city of Barcelona. Roka is an unparalleled gastronomic experience that will combine very well with the culinary attractions that Barcelona offers creating an unparalleled concept” says the general director of Hotel Arts Barcelona, Andreas Oberoi.

Azumi Ltd CEO Sven Koch added: “We are delighted to make ROKA’s debut in Barcelona and to open Hotel Arts Barcelona. The culinary scene of this city is so vibrant that is why we see ROKA at home even if it is for a short time. We are looking forward to the summer season.”

An exclusive gastronomic experience

It is a luxurious restaurant serving contemporary Japanese cuisine that guests and clients of the hotel can enjoy exclusively. It will remain open seven days a week during dinner hours, putting the finishing touch to the magnificent summer offer hosted by Marina Coastal Club, Barcelona’s gastronomic destination par excellence.

A true gastronomic temple, destined to be the best Japanese restaurant in Barcelona during these months. Where the traditional concept of Japanese robatayaki cuisine is successfully combined with avant-garde touches and with the passion for the local flavors of the sea and the land, and where seasonal products are always present. All this enlivened by the ambient music, which delicately accompanies the warm Mediterranean nights of the city.

An emerging gastronomic concept, which perfectly fits the concept of luxury gastronomic destination that has been developed in Barcelona over the last few years, being currently a true culinary reference not only nationally, but also internationally.

What makes Roka unique?

What differentiates Roka from any other sushi restaurant in Barcelona and what makes it unique is being a pioneer in the robata grill in Europe. Its founder, Rainer Becker, was the one who brought this method of traditional Japanese cuisine to the continent, which was used by fishermen in northern Japan to cook fish on charcoal in the boats with which they fished.

The main kitchen located in the center of the establishment is fully visible, so diners can also enjoy a unique visual experience while watching the chefs cook. It is here, precisely, where the grill is located, an integral design element that the Japanese interior designer Noriyoshi Muramatsu has managed to integrate perfectly.

Let yourself be surprised by Roka’s specialties

Destined to be the gastronomic high point of this summer, Roka’s menu will feature among its star dishes sashimi and sushi, immaculately presented along with a varied selection of the best products cooked in the robata.

In fact, the real secret of Roka’s cuisine is the robata grill, with which delicious recipes are cooked such as lamb chops with Korean spices and asparagus with sesame and sweet soy and sea bream fillet with miso and red onion.

But unique specialties also stand out, such as prawns with roasted chili, wagyu sushi with Oscietra caviar, king crab dumplings, black cod or yellowtail tuna sashimi with yuzu and truffle dressing.

Equally sophisticated are its desserts, where we find authentic delicacies such as roasted figs, sweet miso crème brulée or pistachio ice cream, and its creative cocktails, prepared with great mastery.

Therefore, if you are a great lover of Asian cuisine and want to enjoy a unique gastronomic experience, we encourage you to taste Roka’s specialties on your next getaway in Barcelona. Of course, remember that it will only remain open until September.
